There are various national and state level entrance exams for admission to various law institutes, colleges and Universities. CLAT is one of the most popular national level law entrance exams which is conducted for admissions to various law courses to various national level institutes and universities
This national entrance exam is conducted for admission to various UG and PG courses. The exam is conducted for duration of 2 hours. It is multiple choice questions based exam on General Knowledge, Mathematics, English and Legal Reasoning. Candidate can apply for the Law entrance exam after qualifying 12th class. This year Common Law Admission Exam is conducted by Chankya National Law University, Patna.
Changes made-
The counseling process will be conducted in 4 rounds only
The upper age limit for general candidates will be 20 years as on 1st July, 2017 and 22 years for reserved categories.

Eligibility Criteria-
The candidates appearing can be citizen of India and NRI’s as well and candidate, who has cleared 12th class with compartment, can also apply for the Law Entrance Exam. There are separate eligibility criteria for LLM and LLB programs which are as-
For LLB programs
- The candidates must be less than 20 years as on 1st July, 2017 and 22 years for reserved categories
- The candidates must have cleared 12th class from a recognized board
- Candidates appearing in qualifying exam can also apply for the entrance exam
For LLM programs
- There is no upper age limit for the candidates to appear in this course
- The candidates must have cleared LLB course
- Candidates appearing for LLB course final year can also apply for the entrance exam
Application Form-
The application forms will be available from 1 January 2017. Candidates those who belong to General/ OBC/ SAP categories, they are required to apply for the form with application fee of Rs.4000 and reserved category candidates have to make payment of Rs.3500 which could be paid through online or offline mode.
Exam Pattern-
For UG courses
There will be total of 200 questions
The mode of exam will be computer based test
The medium of exam will be English language only
The exam will be of 200 marks
Each correct answer will be awarded with 1 mark
Negative marking will also be done for every wrong answer
The duration of the exam will be 2 hours
For PG courses
There will be total of 150 questions
The entrance exam will be a computer based test
The medium of the exam will be in English Language
The exam will be of 150 marks
The duration of the exam will be 2 hours
